Bostik

Safety, Health & Environment

in compliance with regulatory requirements

Bostik Ltd is committed to maintaining the highest practicable standards of safe working conditions and minimising the risk of accidents and ill health in the workplace.

A comprehensive Health and Safety management system has been introduced, which ensures that all operations are in compliance with regulatory requirements and are aligned to the TOTAL safety policy and charter.

Reportable accident levels have continued to fall over the last 10 years from an average of 15 to 3 events each year.

In 2004 the Stafford site had zero events after 680,000 man hours worked resulting in a prestigious TOTAL chemicals branch safety excellence award.

Then in 2006 the Leicester site also received the prestigious TOTAL chemicals branch safety excellence award after zero events and 390,835 man hours worked.

In addition three drivers contribute to our continuous safety improvement culture:

  • Communication of our system and other requirements, so that everyone can accept that accidents and incidents are preventable events using a plan of structured safety meetings, poster campaigns and newsletters.
  • Identifying and monitoring our problems and taking appropriate corrective action, including auditing, structured risk assessment and accident and near miss investigation.
  • Employee training in general job requirements and specific Health and Safety topics.
Environmental

Certified to ISO 14001, Bostik Ltd is a prominent supporter of environmental initiatives at its UK sites including local community projects and is committed to maintaining the highest practicable standards of Environmental Control, preventing pollution and reducing environmental impact by ensuring:

  • All regulatory requirements are understood, communicated appropriately and complied with.
  • Continuous improvement in energy consumption, waste minimisation, housekeeping standards and environmental awareness.
  • All contractors have the necessary competence, certification and documentation to ensure they are always in compliance with our Policy and procedures.
