Epoxy Patching Mortar Q Can I build up multi coats of Cementone Epoxy Patching Mortar
A Yes. Make sure that the first layer has deep scratches in the surface to give a better key for the second layer
Cemplas Mortar Plasticiser Q Can I use Cementone Cemplas with Mastercrete or Multicem cements?
A Yes, but the best advice is to reduce the dosage by a half. This is because the cement already contains a plasticiser.
Chloride Based Frostproofer Q Can I use Cementone Frostproofer Hardener and accelerator with Sulphate resisting cement?
A No. Don't use with either standard sulphate resisting cement or super sulphate resisting cement.
Integral Waterproofer Q Do you have a 'Salt inhibitor'?
A Salts are transported through concrete and cement by water. The use of a liquid waterproofer in the mix will inhibit the flow of water. It will therefore also inhibit the movement of the salts.
Integral Waterproofer Q Can I use Integral Liquid Waterproofer with Mastercrete or Multicem cements?
A Yes, but the best advice is to reduce the dosage by a half. This is because the cement already contains a plasticiser.
Integral Waterproofer Q Can I use Integral Liquid Waterproofer to waterproof an existing concrete floor by brushing it on?
A NO. This product only works in cement mixes where it reacts with the lime which is produced during the hydration (curing) process.
Integral Waterproofer Q Can I use Cementone Integral Waterproofer with a cement lime render?
A No. The waterproofer will react with the lime in the mix and you will lose the benefit of both.
Number 1 Colours For Cement Q Can I use Cementone Colours with a lime mortar.
A Yes, but the lime may bloom to the surface or produce efflorescence which may lighten the colour.
Number 1 Colours For Cement Q Can I use Cementone Cement Colours to brush onto concrete?
A No. These colours must be part of a proper sand/cement mix for them to work properly. If they are painted on to a surface they will simply wash off as they are inert inorganic pigments.
Number 1 Colours For Cement Q Do you supply Cementone Wide Jointing Compound in other colours?
A Yes, Natural (which is Buff) and Grey.
Number 1 Colours For Cement Q Can I add Cement Colours to Cementone Wide Jointing Compound to alter its colour?
A This will not work because the colours will not disperse in the product. Also, the addition of a powder to Cementone Wide Jointing Compound may prevent it setting properly.
Resin For Blocks - Wet Look finish Q What is the coverage of Resin for Blocks, Wet Look?
A Apply the first coat at 3m2 per litre, and within 24 hours, apply the second coat at 6m2 per litre. This works out to a total coverage of 1 litre for every 2m² of block paving.
Resin For Blocks - Wet Look finish Q Is Resin for Blocks - Wet Look, frostproof?
A Yes. It effectively stops water ingress into the sand and porous blocks if applied correctly.
Resin For Blocks - Wet Look finish Q Can I use Resin For Blocks Wet Look on my new Indian Stone patio?
A No. The product is designed for concrete block pavers only. If used on natural stone it will look uneven and patchy due to the variable porosity of the stone. It may also leave a slippery surface in places where it has not been absorbed. Use Cementone Natural Stone Sealer instead.
Wide Jointing Compound Q Can Cementone Wide Jointing Compound be used in any paving application?
A Cementone Wide Jointing Compound can be used in any paving application, as long as joints are 5mm wide or greater (at it?s narrowest point) and 25mm deep or greater.
Wide Jointing Compound Q Can joints be partially filled with sand or hardcore to reduce cost of the Cementone Wide Jointing Compound?
A This practice is not recommended unless the depth of Cementone Wide Jointing Compound when placed exceeds 25mm.
Wide Jointing Compound Q Will application of Cementone Wide Jointing Compound stain the paving?
A Depending upon porosity and type of paving, Cementone Wide Jointing Compound may temporarily enhance any variations in the colour and texture of the paviour. This will diminish and eventually disappear over a period of time, which will depend upon exposure, weathering and traffic.
Wide Jointing Compound Q How long have I got to apply the product once the bag of Cementone Wide Jointing Compound is opened?
A Cementone Wide Jointing Compound should be placed and finished within six hours of opening in normal UK ambient temperature of 15°C to 25°C. For temperatures greater than 25°C, open time will be approx. 2 to 3 hours. Below 15°C down to 0°C Cementone Wide Jointing Compound could take 36-48 hours for initial cure. (Do not apply when temperatures are likely to fall below 2°C or when it is damp or the ground is damp)
Wide Jointing Compound Q Can I use Cementone Wide Jointing Compound for interior applications?
A Cementone Wide Jointing Compound can be used in conservatories and kitchens, but the distinctive odour could prove problematic during and after interior applications. Also, the porous nature of Cementone Wide Jointing Compound may not be suitable in certain interior applications.
Wide Jointing Compound Q Is Cementone Wide Jointing Compound colour stable?
A The colour of Cementone Wide Jointing Compound is entirely natural, based on the decorative silicas used. Cementone Wide Jointing Compound will weather naturally in line with the paving. In some applications, natural atmospheric impurities within rainwater can be deposited on the Cementone Wide Jointing Compound surface as the water drains trough. This can easily be removed with brushing and/or hosepipe.
Wide Jointing Compound Q Can Cementone Wide Jointing Compound be applied during rainy periods?
A Definitely not. Cementone Wide Jointing Compound must be applied in dry conditions to surfaces that are dry and will remain dry until the product has set. If it becomes damp during curing it will hardened but soften again if it becomes wet. If it becomes wet when curing it may never set as the resin could be washed away.
Wide Jointing Compound Q Can Cementone Wide Jointing Compound be applied into tapered joints?
A No the joint sides must be straight, though faces don't have to be perfectly flat.
Wide Jointing Compound Q When can I seal the paved area that I have just pointed with Cementone Wide Jointing Compound?
A The product must be fully cured. It would be feasible to do this after 1 day but to be safe leave at least 4 days. Application before the product sets might leave it permanently soft.
Wide Jointing Compound Q Do you supply Cementone Wide Jointing Compound in other colours?
A Yes, Natural (which is Buff) and Grey.
Wide Jointing Compound Q I have a block driveway to my house. The joints are 10mm wide and 40mm deep. Occasionally trucks may be parked on the driveway. Can I use Cementone Wide Jointing Compound to fill the joints and how much will I need for 350 square metres?
A It is not advisable to run trucks onto domestic driveways as the bed may not be able to take the excessive loads that modern trucks carry. Under the circumstances we could not recommend Wide Jointing Compound
Water Seal Q My builder tells me that I should apply Cementone Water Seal to the wall before plastering to waterproof the wall. Is this correct?
A No. This product is designed for use on outside walls that are both porous and dry at the time of application. Water Seal helps the wall shed the rain.
Water Seal Q I have some damp walls in my house which I believe are due to rain soaking through them. What can I apply to the inside and outside of the walls to stop this?
A Apply Cementone Water Seal to the outside of the walls, providing that they are dry and porous, using a knapsack spray or a brush, starting at the top and working down. If spraying, take care not to overspray onto other surfaces, as it will dry white and be impossible to remove. This product works inside the wall and has a very long life. It must not be used indoors due to the lingering solvent odour.
Water Seal Q Can I use Cementone Water Seal as a dustproofer?
A No. This product can only be used outside, and does not seal the surface. It penetrates the walls and lines the pores to drastically reduce rainwater movement through the wall.
Natural Stone Sealer Q Will Cementone Natural Stone Sealer make the surface of the stone slippery?
A If the surface is slippery before the sealer is applied, it will remain slippery after the sealer has been applied, however, it will not increase the slip hazard.
Natural Stone Sealer Q Will the appearance of the stone change once Cementone Natural Stone Sealer has been applied?
A No, the sealer will not change the appearance of the stone.
Natural Stone Sealer Q What types of natural stone is Cementone Natural Stone Sealer suitable for?
A Most types of natural stone are suitable for the sealer, however, it is recommended that the sealer is first applied to a small area of stone to test its porosity.
Natural Stone Sealer Q Why does the coverage vary?
A Natural stone varies in porosity. The amount of product required will therefore depend on the type of natural stone used
Natural Stone Sealer Q How should Cementone Natural Stone Sealer be applied?
A The sealer should be applied in dry conditions using a suitable brush. To ensure penetration it is important that the stone is allowed to dry before applying
Natural Stone Sealer Q Will the Cementone Natural Stone Sealer help to resist mould?
A Repellent formulas of many types have been shown to reduce the rate of mould growth on stone, wood, concrete/masonry and many other substrates. They don't act on the mould in any way; rather, by keeping the water out of the stone they make the environment within the stone less hospitable to mould/mildew. Mould spores may still land and eventually bloom, but the lack of a moist environment slows the rate of progress.
Natural Stone Sealer Q Is Cementone Natural Stone Sealer suitable for both interior and exterior applications?
A Cementone Natural Stone Sealer works for both interior and exterior applications as the products is water based
Natural Stone Sealer Q If I spill anything on the natural stone once the sealer has been applied, what should I do?
A Whilst the sealer will help to prevent staining, it is strongly recommended that all spillages are removed immediately and cleaned with hot soapy water to ensure the best chance of removal.
Natural Stone Sealer Q Once Cementone Natural Stone Sealer has been applied to the stone, will it resist freeze/thaw cycles?
A Freeze/thaw cracking is a direct result of water penetrating into the substrate, then stressing the stone when it freezes. Water repellent treatments of any sort typically reduce freeze/thaw stress cracking by preventing water from getting into the stone.
Natural Stone Sealer Q What is the coverage of Cementone Natural Stone Sealer?
A The coverage of the product is 7-8m2 or higher for the first coat depending on the porosity of the stone.
