FAQs for Impact
Impact Q Can I use Evo-Stik Impact to bond vinyl?
A No. After several weeks the plasticiser in the vinyl will 'bleed' into the adhesive making it soft and sticky. The bond will then fail. Use Bostik Sof Plastics Clear Adhesive, or Bostik All Purpose Adhesive Extra Strong.
Impact Q Can I use Evo-Stik Impact to bond foam polystyrene sheets?
A No. The solvent in the adhesive will dissolve the foam. Use Evo-STik Serious Stuff instead.
Impact Q Have you an adhesive that will bond thin sheets of overlapping polyethylene (Polythene) together?
A Polythene is very difficult to bond. Thin sheets of polythene may be bonded using Evo-Stik Impact Spray. This produces a reasonable bond strength. Apply a coat to both surfaces and allow to dry for 3 minutes and then press them together. In external conditions the bond may begin to deteriorate within 12 months. Standard Contact or Impact Adhesive will not work
Impact Q I have spilt some Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive on my acrylic bath. How can I remove it?
A It is possible that the solvent in the adhesive may have already damaged the surface of the bath. Solvents cannot be used as they might damage the surface. The best procedure is to drip some boiling water onto the adhesive and try to scrape it off with a soft scraper. Always test before attempting removal to check for unexpected problems.
Impact Q Can I use Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive Spray to bond laminate to the facia on my shopfront?
A No. Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive Spray has a relatively low temperature resistance and in warm weather the thermal expansion of the laminate would cause it to curl at the edges. In a shaded situation away from sunlight, use Evo-Stik 528 Contact Adhesive
