| Expanding Foam Filler | Q | Are there any problems in filling gaps with Evo-Stik Foam Filler where plastic coated mains wires will be encased in the foam? There will not be any problems although if it is being used in a confined area the usual precautions about working in a confined area must be observed. The foam will not react with the pvc coating on the electric wires. There is however one possible problem if a long length of electric cable is encased in foam. The pvc cover allows HEAT, that is generated as the electricity passes along the cable, to escape. The foam is a very good insulating medium and will not allow the heat to escape. This " MAY" result in a build up of heat and possibly the pvc cover melting. This is of course an extreme situation. If the foam is only being used to cover small lengths ( through floors/walls etc ) there will not be any problem. |

| Expanding Foam Filler | Q | Can I use Evo-Stik Foam Filler to fill a ballast tank in a boat? |
| A | No. This is because the foam is only about 80% closed cell structure. After a long time immersed it will slowly absorb water and will eventually not be a good ballast any longer. | |
| Expanding Foam Filler | Q | I need to repair a hole beneath my caravan floor. It was originally foam filled but that has disintegrated and left a hole. The only way I can fill this is by drilling holes and injecting the foam. Will your Evo-Stik Foam Filler work? |
| A | No. The foam must be applied in layers into an open gap. If it is injected in through a hole it will compress and will not be able to react with moisture properly. Thus a very poor foam will result. | |
| Expanding Foam Filler | Q | Do you have an intumescent foam filler? |
| A | No. Our Fire Retardant Expanding Foam Filler burns to form a soft char on the surface which slows the spread of the fire. A foam has already foamed once and does not have enough substance to do it again. Foams are not, therefore intumescent. |
