Q: I’ve accidently over-drilled a hole in my lounge wall while trying to hang a mirror and now it’s too large for the raw plug. What can I do to fix this?

A: Over-drilling a hole by using a larger drill bit than necessary is a common problem. However you might end up with a hole that’s too big due to damage, such as un-straight drilling or crumbly plaster. An easy solution is to use a quick setting putty, such as Super Fix by Evo-Stik. Easy and clean to use, knead a Super Fix pastille in between your fingers until it’s all one colour. Insert it into the hole and allow ten minutes to dry, sanding off the excess if necessary.
